3 Ways to Teach Courage with the School Adventure Pack
If you’re a teacher, principal, educator, or leader of an after-school program for elementary students, you can have fun infusing social and emotional learning into your classes with our easy-to-implement and impactful tools!
We have the School Adventure Pack that corresponds with the first book in the series – Adventures with Divot & Swish in Costa Rica: The Superpower of Courage. It is designed for 2nd and 3rd grades, is standards-based, and contains 5 adventure plans covering the subjects of life science, English language arts, physical activity and visual/fine arts.
There are 3 easy and fun ways to teach courage using the School Adventure Pack with your students after they have read the book. Please take these ideas and modify them to fit your specific situation.
Theme of the Week or Month
Establish a Divot & Swish COURAGE theme of the week or month. For a weekly theme, deliver one of the five adventures plans daily. For a monthly theme, you can select four of the five adventures plans and deliver one a week.
Kick-Off or Holiday Event
Use the PE or Art Adventure Plan to have a fun event at the start or end of your school year, or as part of a holiday celebration.
5-Station Team Challenge
Create teams of five students each and set up five stations using one of the objectives from each of the five adventures plans. For example:
Station 1 = I Am Unique Challenge
Station 2 = Art Challenge
Station 3 = Courage Challenge
Station 4 = PE Balance Challenge
Station 5 = Divot & Swish Vocabulary Relay Race
